Why I Am Putting A Temporary Stop To The Trading Challenge

So I’ve been getting quite a few messages since posting my tweet over a week ago outlining that I was putting the challenge on hold. To be honest I was suprised at how many people got in touch and certainly didn’t think as many people were following it as there were, so thank you for that. All the messages I got wished me well and it was quite humbling to get a message from you all. So I wanted to put out a quick post explaining properly my reasoning to leave trading for a short hiatus.
For some time I’ve been trying to launch a couple of business. I am at heart someone who needs to work for himself (some would argue I’m unemployable haha) and have a lot of ideas in the pipeline. Now truth be told, the progress of those businesses has been hindered by my obsession with the markets. It has taken me a lot of time to get myself to the level I got and I am certainly not going to walk away from it. Progress was coming along nicely but, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, trading is not a guaranteed angle to rely on if your just starting out. It takes time to nurture your mind to a level in which you become resistant to pitfalls in the mind.
Over the past few months my life has changed dramatically and I split with my partner with whom I have a child to. Now although that isn’t necessarily a reason to briefly quit trading, I have been looking at my time pretty closely. I work away for days (sometimes weeks) on end and feel it is time to realign certain things so that life functions how I want it to and from that, I want more time with my daughter.
In order to achieve this, I need to get my businesses to a point whereby I no longer need to work away and that is going to need my full concentration – hence removing trading from my life for the time being. This is only until I am at a point in which I have more time to spare and in the grand scheme of things that shouldn’t be too long. I’m just being honest with myself and trading was definitely hindering the progress of my other incomes.
Although the trading is on hold, I’ll still be writing and Bets & Stats will still be built on. I’ve got some ideas in the pipeline also for stat engines (one of which is being built as we speak) and interviews will still be coming in thick and fast.
I just wanted to clarify a few things as with human nature, people love to talk 🙂
